Use the status progress shown in your airline account. These counters are separate from miles you can spend.
Illustrative numbers, not a travel offer
Start with your current progress, not zero.
700 required, 500 already earned
In a simplified points-based example, you still need 200 status points. If an eligible trip earns 40 points, five such trips would close that gap.
700 − 500 = 200 points still needed
This is arithmetic, not a programme rule or route recommendation. A real tier may also require qualifying flights, airline-specific points or spend before a deadline.
Check which balance counts
Award miles and status points are usually different balances. Copy your current qualifying progress and period from the programme account, then check every requirement for your target tier.
Some programmes need the exact booking class or eligible spend to calculate flight credit. Missing information stays missing. A Business label alone does not establish how many points a flight earns.
There is no need to fly solely for status. Compare the extra cost with benefits you would actually use, then verify any travel separately with the airline.
